Our deceased poetic liberal Republican governor Jay Hammond, who made the oil companies hire hundreds of environmental "specialists" to monitor the building of the pipeline in environmentally sound manner once said: " Private ownership of land is the biggest lock up of land there is". Or something like that. One of the reasons I left California was the lack of public land. Living right smack in the middle of the Tongass National forest is wonderful. I have almost forgotten what a fence or no trespassing sign looks like. Selling public land to the plutocrats is one of the worst crimes there is.
