They still rule in the router arena...and I don't see anyone being able to challenge them in the router market...however they had stuffed their inventories like COMS and they are under extreme pressure from Bay and COMS in the switch area..you are also begining to see layer 3 switches start to bite in into their high end router market.. ONe of my major customers just went with Bay....(againts my recommendation which was CISCO catalyst 5500) simply because bay came in at the half of the price.. but I don't think cisco is in trouble at all..their margins are in trouble...I think it is still a couple of years before Bay or Coms can challenge them in the high end..really by having a main stream alternative to a router via switches...
