IT COULD BE WORSE

During the past week the IBD growth mutual fund index dropped 6.5% while my Y2K portfolio net value dropped 2.2%.I believe the market may remain weak until the advance reporting of companies expecting to have earnings shortfalls are over.VIAS is due to report the week of January 23rd.The consensus forecast of .20$ is only equal to the Sept. quarter and is 60% ahead of last year.It doesn't seem like a big stretch to get .22$ per share. Strong earnings growth will be a must if Y2K stocks are to resume upward price moves. With 2000 only 9 quarters away stories about future prospects will likely find little support from the mutual funds now owning Y2K STOCKS.I received annual reports from two mutual fund groups that I own. The PBHG funds which are momentum investors hold sizable positions in KEA,CBR,VIAS,TSK and CHRZ. The Dean Witter Developing Growth fund which uses an investment approach similar to mine has positions in IMRS,TSK,ISLI and VIAS. I would be interested in other people reporting on the Y2K holdings of other funds along with a comment on their investment strategy.
