PMS,
Appears to be very efficient, but more involved than I wanted to occur. He is simply giving his XP to a daughter and preferred to wipe all personal information and data. It's not like the computer is going to a stranger. I expect that removing sensitive programs like Quicken and doing a disk wipe should be sufficient. I am not that swift to mess with the registry. I will do a registry name and ownership change. I did a reinstall last week for another friend's Dell and had a problem installing the drivers as it would not read the Utility disk with the drivers. The now subject computer is also a Dell so I am skeptical of doing a reinstall. Also, a reinstall would require downloading the countless XP updates. This is intended to be a favor and not an occupation. My past experience with helping friends is that you inevitably spend hours as you run into other necessary fixes that you don't want to ignore.

Thanks for your expert suggestion which I will note for futures.
