TimbaBear, I just finished reading the book F.I.A.S.C.O. and it does a pretty good job of explaining this whole mess and how they keep these problems under wraps for long periods of time. I agree with your statement concerning their denial of the situation. The problem is that I do not think they will all of a sudden discontinue their old practices. I think our politicians and investment bankers along with the IMF will in fact aid them in further coverup of the real seriousness of the situation for one reason - they are afraid for the world (everyday citizens) to know how bad the situation really is.

After reading the book, I also think that we may have some of the same underlying problems here in our financial markets.
