Tenchusatsu, of course Saddam was a source of human rights violations and oppression.

The guy that replaced him has ALSO been a source of human rights violations and oppression. Maliki was elected democratically but he hasn't been that much better than Saddam when it comes to the Sunnis.

Saddam was also a source of bad stuff in the 1980's, but we still used him and gave him money and arms.

That's because he was the enemy of our enemy and so he was our friend.

He was a BUFFER against Iran.

In WWII we became allies with the Russians although we hated and feared them. But we didn't hate or fear them as MUCH as we hated and feared the Nazis.

Bush DID start all this instability. Where do you think all these Sunni Jihadists came from? They came from all these Sunnis LOSING their jobs and their place in society. The SAME sort of thing created the KKK in the South after the Civil War.
