<<As someone that would take a stab at Ahhaha and be willing to bear the brunt of his angst, I'll throw my 2 cents worth.>>
I’m glad you stepped up to the plate.
<<I don't think i saw any first posts like yours that he didnt disagree with.>>
He actually agreed with me often in our conversations. Maybe because he knew I was of lesser education than many on here? I never cared for Haaavad even though I grew up near by. Grew up on the wrong side of the tracks as they say.
<<Although i expressed my view to him of his being a devils advocate on all occasions, he absolutely denied the label.>>
I think he viewed himself as more of a non-mainstream realist.
<<I would never be able to non sequitur you, trivially correct, or even claim my view was more important and advanced but if its just another opinion you want fraught with emotional bias and superstition. >>
That’s why I’m glad you stepped up to the plate. Over the years Deeno it has always been your nature to do so.
<<However the thread will evolve or die.>>
Time will tell…..
<<Action may reflect your attitude or current trading, but I see normal trading.>>
I don’t trade. Trading is a zero sum game. Buying and holding the market is the only way to grab the golden ring.
<<overall yes. complacency?
Time will tell…..
<<buy on dips?>>
Buy the stock and never the market. All great companies should be bought on dips until they are no longer great.
<< Wonder what Ahhaha would say about the "flow">>
It didn’t matter how many time he explained it. I never could figure it out but believed him that it worked. I was hoping someone here completely got it. Kind of like grandmas secret sauce
<<don't believe in technicals. Just tea leaves. See what you want to see.>>
Agree 150%. See what you want to see. Well said.
<<perhaps, but I never found him to be long term about anything. either we didnt understand what he was really saying,>>
I think more times than not, we simply didn’t understand his end game. Ahh had a way of seeing not just “the big picture”; most times he saw a completely different picture than most. Kind of like when an artist looks at his own painting. Others never see it, as does he.
<<Ive been investing in stocks for 50 years.>>
You have me beat by a lot with both time and experience I’m sure. Just the fact that you survived in the market for 50 years says eons.
<<No its not different. your attitude may be, but stocks are stocks.>>
Do stocks change attitudes or do attitudes change stocks? Which came first the chicken or the egg? World wide interconnection… a tech paradigm…. A cry of peace and security. Is it feasible that these things could change the game, as we know it?
<<what if the moon was made of green cheese?>>
True
<<depends on how long you live. But i think big market declines are brought out of unknowable news or events.>>
I think any event that changes or threatens my above statement about the world wide interconnection could change this market funk. Beyond that I still see no reason for the market to stop doing what it is doing. Slowly grinding up with almost of feel of declining.
<<100% disagree. in fact I might argue the opposite.>>
Explain why you feel companies are less diversified and co-dependent than ever before. I’m curious.
<<considering Ahhaha penchant for definition you would have to define what he actually meant before we could compare.>>
True… sadly without him here we have nothing more than tea leaves.
<<that has always been true (or not) over anything more than a day. its just arithmetic. stocks move, then indexes are calculated. ARBs excepted.>>
I guess my point is… what if the wall of worry never won out? What if all it did from here on out is strengthen the upside? The only catalyst for a down price would be stock specific. Isn’t that how it should be?
<<or go up, just have to figure out which way its going.......What, you never bought a stock that went up in a down market? or vice versa?>>
Yes I have but the majority always moves with the market. What if that is changing?
<<No. eventually it will all go to zero.>>
I need more information to understand your point.
<<depends on who you are measuring, I can assure you.>>
Agree.
<<You have no idea what "investors" are thinking, waiting or anything.>>
But they have been told by history that the market MUST correct at least 10%. It can’t go up forever. Haaavad has promised them. I don’t have to know what they think, I simply have to know what they have been told the think.
<<Define cheap? name a few, love to hear them.>>
FB to mention one. IMO it's a MUST OWN.
<<I'm not forced. Are you forced? Anyone feel forced?>>
Forced it the wrong word. Tempted beyond conscious will is more correct.
<<since I dont see much of a loop I guess I cant see your conclusion. non sequitir?>>
Market grinding higher.... from the beginning of time.
<<How can history be wrong? interpertations might be wrong to the eye of another beholder, but history is never wrong.>>
History is never wrong but trying to predict the future through the use of history doesn’t always work.
<<don't be mistaken it WILL end.>>
How do you know?
<<its unknowable and therefore untimable don't waste your efforts.>>
This takes the teeth out of your last statement.
<<The more was to look beyond what you see. There would always be more as long as you had imagination.>>
Well put.
<<Hopefully you have completed your mental holiday. thats all it was.>>
Mental holidays are good for the soul.
<<Now go back to work and get something accomplished.>>
Accomplished is a relative word. Once you have enough money to put food on the table, a roof over your head and clothes on your back I’m not sure if anything past that can be coined an accomplishment. Some may consider it a waste of quality time.
<<Feel free to bash my comments, call me a neophyte or any other name applicable. It would feel like home again.>>
I hope I lovingly bashed you enough for you liking. Welcome home.... |
