6/27/14 Contest update
Sure, you can win by losing. The World Cup U.S. team showed us how by advancing to the next round despite losing their match with Germany, 1-0. And, of course, losers are always also winners in our Charity Contest.
With all eyes focused on the World Cup, it was a relatively quiet week on Wall Street. At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 11.95% YTD (vs. up 11.57% YTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Biotech Index was up 13.21% YTD (vs. up 12.61% YTD a week ago) and the Nasdaq Composite Index was up 5.30% YTD (vs. up 4.58% YTD a week ago).
DEWDIL’s portfolio, up 57.25% YTD, held on to first place, but with a much narrower lead than last week over second place, DOUGH’s portfolio, up 55.17% YTD. MCBIO’s portfolio, up 44.90% YTD, moved into third place.
At Friday's close, 34 of the 46 Contest portfolios were in the black, while 21 of the 46 were beating the NBI. The median Contest portfolio stock (ZIOP) is down -4.61% YTD.
Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks ranked by % Gained and % Lost for the week. (Prices not converted to US$ in these Tables.)
And since this was the final full week of the second quarter, I’m also posting the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks ranked by % Gained and % Lost for the year. (Prices not converted to US$ in these Tables.)
Portfolio adjustments: None
(All corrections, especially adjustments for splits, greatly appreciated.)
Have a safe & fun weekend biotechies!
Peace & good health,
Bulba
