My understanding of COTS is rudimentary at best but it sure looks like it took a lot of shorts to cap this rally and since this was last Tuesdays data and gold has been trying to break higher since then (more capping??)we can expect next weeks COTS to also be bearish.... These guys are either right or wrong... we have been in a bear market for years now and just as bulls get cocky at the top maybe the shorts are getting cocky at the bottom.. Early July is usually pretty bearish for gold and shorts are getting positioned for a big drop... so what happens if they can't push the metals lower.... I see a lot of fresh shorts that are going to be on the wrong side of the trade if we start breaking higher that are going to scramble to cover their shorts if indeed they are wrong and instead of the metals dropping like the shorts expect the metals turn and start breaking out.... Also isn't decreasing open interest as sign of players throwing in the towel and exiting the market ?? More fuel if we do break higher if they decide to re-enter.... Just an alternative view ??? Grasping at straws ??? Anybody with a better understanding care to offer their insight ??? Stuffbug ???
