I understand counties/states desire to control alcohol. It is one powerful, debilitating drug. And used irresponsibly so often it seems demonic. Becomes demonic.
I know this is a sensitive subject, but...
THE most responsible-acting population I've encountered is Thailand. Where everyone can get whatever they want, whenever they want it. (When one can afford it, of course.) This is a "truth" I invite people who wonder about the "control" of the effects of these substances, to check out, by experience.
The decisions are left up to the individual.
And where does "responsibility" begin?
You can feel it the moment you arrive. No one is going to "tell" you what to do. You're going to "decide", yourself.
There's no question of "what is legal", or "getting away" with anything, you will be allowed to do anything short of murder you want to do.
It is a "shock" to become empowered. To sense, to feel, where the true responsibility lies. In any endeavor.
Now maybe for Americans, they will all "flip-out", because of misunderstanding and inexperience. I didn't; and didn't see any of it. I felt "respect", for me, the individual, and was able to assess my place in society, and the effects of my choices. Almost instantly, like "a vision". A feeling of calm. And power. And choice.
I do not like to think something as lame as "rules make people want to break them", but I think maybe they create a subtext; a consensus, an education of inability. A lack of "thinking". Of practice. Of cause and effect; analysis; experience.
