>>I understand counties/states desire to control alcohol<<

hmmm, gaugie. yes, rather serious. so i'm thinkin'...

the county controls nothing here but the lack of legal sales
within their borders. and that's nothing. alcohol is prevalant
and pervasive. but they have the illusion, the sham, the cover
of being a god-fearing (their term) territory. and it's only an
illusion.

when i'd been here in the past, i kept to myself and my family
so i was unaware of the habits of the natives. since i moved back
this time and have met people it's been an education.
and in many respects, not a pleasant one.

you'd think having been in S.F. and L.A. i would have seen it all.
but it didn't prepare me for this. silly as it may sound, i've
been shocked. i knew people that drank casually, socially, and
from hanging out in bars, especially, people who drank far too
much. and i encountered the problems that come from the abuse of
alcohol. but nothing compared to the scale i see it here on.

they don't sell it. and they do little to nothing to deal with
the problems it's misuse can bring about. i've been close to and
involved with one situation after another where there was domestic
violence related to alcohol. and accidents. and lost lives. and
lost opportunities.

but rather than dealing, they pretend it doesn't exist. might
embarrass them, i think. and it doesn't seem to occur to the powers
that be, that teaching responsibility would solve a lot of problems.
there's little of that. if you drink a drop you're damned. so heck,
ya might as well down the whole jug. somethin' like that.

okay, okay. enough carryin' on for now.
