In the present generation NCs can't really compete with low cost
PCs. I could easily buy a 486 that probably performs as well as an
NC.
But when more applications start supporting JAVA on the NC then it
maybe quite possible that NCs will start to gain more market share
on the Bottom end. Also NCs could be just used as Inforamtion terminals to gather info off the interent.

The market NCs will probably take over is the 30 Million Dumb terminals. NCs can do the same work as Dumb terminals and more.
