Intel's proposed integration solution is to add graphics/audio/etc. into the chipset rather than onto the CPU die. This approach has several benefits:

1. Cost
2. Time to market
3. No impact on CPU speed
4. No impact on CPU yields
5. Faster turns of new revs

CPU die size is going to be the key factor in determining profitability in the low-end market during 1998, as prices slip below $700.

BTW- Think about the potential value which the Centaur C6 offers to someone with an X86 cross license. Which company will be smart enough to buy them out? (The die size of the C6 is 88mm2.)
