If we don't try to maintain the STRENGTH of the United States by sometimes looking at things pragmatically rather than always altruistically then we will burn out and the world will be a much poorer place because of it.
I agree 100%, but I don't agree with blaming Bush for creating the instability in the Middle East.

The problem is that no matter what we do or DON'T do in the Middle East, we will be blamed for everything that goes on there. How do you deal "pragmatically" with an enemy that has suicidal maniacs willing to die for their "72 virgins"?

It can get ugly very quickly.
