These references to the quantity of signing statements immediately convey ignorance to me; it is the same absurd argument that Koan makes, if that tells you anything.

The importance of executive orders is inherently qualitative in nature, not quantitative. Liberal constitutional scholar Jonathan Turley has testified on this issue before Congress. There are executive orders that are benign, and there are others that are devastatingly illegal. Obama has produced an inordinate number of devastatingly illegal ones.

Merely adding up the totals is about as shallow an argument as one can make and reflects either an intent to mislead or a fundamental misunderstanding. Not all executive orders are alike and the pretense that they are speaks volumes.
