Doug,
I for one only buy a stock when the blood is in the streets. This has not always met with success but has kept me well ahead of Wall Street returns over the past seven years.
Interesting quote in the NY times about Western Digital. Front page story on Asia quote on Page 12.
"""""Western Digital of Irvine, Calif., is another case in point. Western makes most of it's disk drives in Singapore and Malaysia, selling 10 percent to 15 percent in Asia and the rest in the United States and other foreign markets. Sales in Asia have fallen, but profits are rising. The disk drives are sold in dollars, while manufacturing costs are incurred in the weakening Asian currencies.
"We are on both sides of the profit and loss equation," said Duston Williams, Western Digital's chief financial officer, adding that the net result has been higher profit so far.""""

IMHO the IMF rules with an Iron fist and the Asian Tigers came scrambling to Geneva and signed concessions that would have been unthinkable two years ago and are now agreed to almost without change. Indicates to me that the Asian Crisis although still a danger is soon to be seen as a paper tiger that Wall Street has cleverly used along with Secretary Rubin to force open their Financial Markets to Global Competition. Remember when Bush was vomiting at dinner with the Prime Minister of Japan. Guess who is barfing now in Geneva. My only concern is that the Yankee Imperialism is not seen as the new issue. I for one think and hope that this Asian Contagion thing is over. Anyway if not I will buy more Creaf because I believe this is horse SHI#. I will go deep into Margin to back this up.

DrRisk not afraid and apparently neither is Merril Lynch
