Qdog,

I have enjoyed reading your technical analysis on this thread, and I want to thank you for continuing to post. I have a question on the use of vibraseis(spelling ?) in the winter. I once worked for Atlantic Richfield and have rudimentary knowledge of both the dynamite method and vibraseis method of acquiring seismic data.

In your opinion, are there any implications for using vibraseis in the winter time in Kazakstan? Would there be any possible degradation in quality due to the possible frozen layer of soil at the air/soil boundary? I have seen these trucks in use in West Texas in the summer, when it is hot and dry.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Regards,
Dr. Bob
