Taxes aren't a pledge of anything, they are the government taking from others. Giving and having something taken from you are different things.

That having been said, libertarians, at least if you define the term to exclude anarchists (which I consider a separate category), generally support the existence of taxes, at least as a necessary evil. But they oppose high taxes (and the spending that pushes the high taxes), and the complexity and intrusiveness of many tax codes. Taxes would be better if they where lower and simpler.
