argentina 1 x 0 belgium.....
just caught the last 15 minutes of the game..... so i cannot say much about it.... still, from what i saw... argentina is getting away with the MINIMAL effort (and results) and they are in the semis (that means best 4 is the worst result out of this cup, and the first time they've made it to the semis since italy in 1990
belgians tried and tried.... (just like the swiss against argentina, which again, wins by the minimal difference and they save themselves by a hair.....) but failed.... they had a couple of really good opportunities during the injury compensation time..... but no cigar....
so we now have alemania -v- brasil (sans neymar and thiago silva -the captain) in one of the semis.... and we have argentina -v- costa rica or holland
holland being the heavy favorite.... mine is costa rica, and as i have said before.... the ticos have been doing away with the giants..... so soon we' shall see.....
**** in other news....... (F-1)
nico rosberg in the works mercedes makes pole at the british grand prix in a heart-stoping qualifying session .... in typical british weather... raining in part of the circuit, then track completely dry in another.... in the dying minutes of qualifying # 3 session, besting sebastian vettel, in his redbull (whose year has been one of his worst) and jensen button in a mclaren.....
with about 3 minutes left in the session, lewis hamilton looked as though would take pole... increasing his chances to shorten the lead between him and rosberg in the world championship.... but then....
in the early stages of qualy 3, the weather had been wetter and hamilton was at the top of the list, then the rain stopped (at least for a little), and as cars kept circling the track, a dry line formed and so, a few brave ones decided to go out on slicks.... (as opposed to intermediate weather tires), in spite of some drizzling in sector 1 of the track....
anyway... the brave ones, rosberg, vettel, button, hulkenberg, and magnusen improved their times (particularly in sector 3 of the track which was the driest), and bumped the early former better times.... hamilton, (who had the pole), perez, ricciardo, and vergne....
both ferrari and martini racing-williams drivers did not make it after qualy 1, and so they will start the race in the very back of the grid.... alonso, raikkonen, massa, and botas, waay in the back of the starting grid
so .... good ole hamilton will be VERY pissed to see his team-mate rosberg start on pole while he starts on the third row (6th)... roseberg will most probably widen his lead over hamilton in the world champonship...
if tomorrow's race is in the wet, then this will be a very interesting race.... if the weather is anything like the qualifying.... (wet - dry - wet -dry - etc...) then it will be extremely interesting.....
