Are you talking about the main laptop battery? If so I don't run my computers with the battery in it, I pull them out, and store them. If you never move your laptop, and its always connected to external power, you should remove the battery.

Now is this the battery you are talking about or the CMOS battery? (This one keeps the time and BIOS settings, its inside the computer)
