I find it hard to believe that the North Vietnamese, given their post 1968 negotiating history (how many months spent on the size of the conference table?) would have agreed to any substantial deal with Thieu.

But if you facts about such a deal/ proposal pre 1968 Presidential election please post them.

I'm not saying Nixon wouldn't have played politics with the peace talks to thwart Humphrey--just that I doubt such pre 1968 election peace talks would have led to "peace".
