The cut back in SNAP has a big effect on Walmart. That and their customer demographic has been taking it in the shorts even more than normal.

This has been in the works for years. They maintained profitability by first capping wages. Then it was cutting back on staff. Then cutting the hours of the remaining staff. Lately, they have resorted to wage theft. So their well of tricks has run dry.

I wonder if the Walton heirs realized that the political policies they have been pushing would cut the heart out of the goose with the golden eggs? Perhaps they had hoped to impoverish the middle class to the point that Walmart became their retailer of choice?

It is probable they never really understood that would happen. They don't strike me as the sharpest spoons in the drawer...
