The cut back in SNAP has a big effect on Walmart. That and their customer demographic has been taking it in the shorts even more than normal.

This has been in the works for years. They maintained profitability by first capping wages. Then it was cutting back on staff. Then cutting the hours of the remaining staff. Lately, they have resorted to wage theft. So their well of tricks has run dry.

Yeah, the concept of 'cutting off your nose to spite your face' never seems to drill down to these people. They also don't get the concept that a little bit of sharing........a minor tweak in the profit margin.........can lead to a lot more benefits than one might expect.


I wonder if the Walton heirs realized that the political policies they have been pushing would cut the heart out of the goose with the golden eggs? Perhaps they had hoped to impoverish the middle class to the point that Walmart became their retailer of choice?

Of course they don't...........see 'cutting off your nose to spite your face' up above. Their politics are shit.......there is no point discussing them at all. However, their economic philosophy has some merit. When the situation is appropriate, their economics can do some good. The problem with Rs is they think one size fits all.........they want to apply their economics to every problem that comes up. And that just doesn't work. And they seem incapable of grasping why.

It is probable they never really understood that would happen. They don't strike me as the sharpest spoons in the drawer...

Well........you have to look at the circles in which the Waltons traveled............apparently it didn't take much to excel. ;)
