But, I think you have to admit that those 3 million government workers are a very solid voting block and politicians don't want to rock the boat, especially with a group so likely to vote their own interests (and who wouldn't), so maybe things might have become a bit skewed over time?

Most of those federal employees are concentrated in DC and Denver. In those areas, they may influence elections although I have not heard of any analysis that suggests they do. Beyond that, I don't think they constitute much of a voting block.

Its too bad how much Rs have demonized gov't workers. It accomplishes little and simply divides us more. In the meantime, I am being told by a friend who works for a congressman that the federal bureaucracy has become increasingly understaffed and that much that needs to get done is not getting done.
