I'm pretty sure people seldom change their political views as a result of political arguments on message boards. I've not seen it, at least. I've changed mine a lot over the years -- first from liberalism (60s-70s) to (70s-80s-90s) conservatism and over the last few years more toward libertarianism. And I always thought the political leaning of the day was the only way to go.

I think most people come to these decisions based on some internalized process, not by being persuaded. For the most part.
