Jack, and here's your answer on native IP for Netware....

A CHAT WITH NOVELL'S JOE MARENGI
During last week's rollout of GroupWise 5.0 in New York, CommunicationsWeek's Mitch Irsfeld, editor-in-chief, and Elliot Kass, editor, snagged some face time with Joe Marengi. Novell's new president talked freely about the company's plans in the wake of the departure of Chairman and CEO Robert Frankenberg.
On Novell's hunt for a new CEO:
It is ongoing. The board will look at me as a candidate for that job. I am not concerned with that as a person. If they bring in a CEO, I will support that person stronger than anybody else. It will not be a major shift; the company will be driven by the team that already is in place. The company is not resting, waiting for someone to come in and tell us where to go.
On competing with Microsoft:
We're not going to pit ourselves one-on-one with Microsoft-that's a losing game. And if the customer wants NT and NetWare to coexist in the same shop-we'll do that.
On Novell's Internet strategy:
We have a strategy in place, but we obviously need to do a better job articulating it, since it's widely misunderstood. Our plan is this:NetWare evolves into IntranetWare, with NetWare as the core underpinning, which is still NetWare, just with additions. The installed IPX net remains in place and there's a single IP address for each local net. NetWare IP is running major corporations around the globe-no problem. But we're putting open standards into our products, and native IP will be out this month.
On Novell remaining independent:
We're being positioned as a stand-alone company. If an offer comes in, the board will review it and act accordingly. The stuff about Netscape buying us is completely false.

Looks like Joe Marengi says native IP (NOT the IPX to IP gateway) will be out this month. Hmmmm... that sounds good to me.
