Can You Tell Real Salon Stories from Fake Salon Stories?

July 12, 2014 by Daniel Greenfield

Salondotcom is one of the funnier Twitter accounts because it’s pretty much impossible to tell apart from actual Salon.

Salon was always on the nutty side, but now it’s become some bizarre HuffPo, Slate and AlterNet hybrid. It’s gotten so bad that it’s impossible to tell a parody Salon story from a real Salon story.

Take…

1. Fake social media accounts are the far-right’s latest weapon in the war on democracy

2. “Transformers”: Robot warriors of the Tea Party attack – a movie review

3. Why only Elizabeth Warren can have the final say on the Redskins controversy

The answer is 2. That’s the only real one. And yes it claims that the new Transformers movie is about Ted Cruz and the Tea Party.

Now try…

1. FREE MARKETS KILLED CAPITALISM

2. ‘Render unto Caesar’: Why Hobby Lobby betrayed Christian values in fighting the administration

3. How SCOTUS is making brood sows out of America’s women

… the answer is 1. And yes it’s from Thomas Frank.

Finally here’s our final round…

1. Enough: We need to stop pretending that people from the South aren’t stupid

2. Gavrilo Princip: The first teabagger

3. Move over, kale! Here is why insects are the next big superfood

And the answer is 3. But it could have really been any of them.
