The issues the protesters are raising, hydraulic fracturing and climate change, are national policy issues
outside the narrow scope of what FERC is being asked to decide on. The organizers of this rally can't really believe that FERC would deny a permit because some of the gas may be produced from wells that were hydraulically fractured. This is a feel-good protest to make the organizers and participants feel righteous with no chance of accomplishing the stated goal of getting FERC to stop Cove Point.
