Civilization has to have laws and structure. Conservatives don't seem to understand that. Nor do they seem to understand democracy.
It is the federal governments role to address boarder issues, including appropriating money to do that work. States cannot just arbitrarily take over that responsibility. Nor should they. That would make for very treacherous foreign policy.
And why should we share our money with Texas. We gave up short term benefits to get long term benefits. Texas could have done what we did, but didn't want to put their money in a savings account for the kids. They prefer to give tax cuts to the rich and corporations. And they don't believe in big government.
Any American can move to Alaska and share our wealth. But we are not going to sacrifice for a state so dumb and heartless they vote in idiots like Bush and Perry who pander to the corporations and refuse to even take the free medicade, shut down planned parenthood and cuts taxes on the rich so much they can't afford a decent educational system.
<< | <We are a confederation of states. There are states rights. Some things we fund at the state level and some things at the federal level. You do not seem to understand that with your post below.<
Good Lord... We are talking about "innocent children".. not "things".... I just didn't know our nations "children" were considered "things"... divided into two classes..... "Our things" and "their things". I thought that those of you with "Extreme Liberal Views" believed that we were all one big collective. Working for the good or our "tribe" as a whole. Each of the people's in the tribe share their resources with each other for the betterment of the tribe as a whole? I mean Alaska is owned by the US. Unlike most other states that were indoctrinated into the union by imperialism, and bloodshed by it's inhabitants, Alaska was an outright purchase by the US Treasury for about 7MM in 1867. 200MM acres are Federal Lands, many of which the Oil flows from is on these Federal Lands. You can attempt to "justify it" in your mind. But, it seems a bit "Right Winger" to me, to claim that since Alaska made better decisions and has lot's of money, some of which is the proceeds off the assets of the Federal Government. That those proceeds are not deployed for the betterment of our society as a whole, but instead are reserved for "our children", not "their children
Earlier you said that all children are "precious".... Even those that span International Boundaries and end up on our shores... However, I guess some children are not a "precious" as other children, and that determination and privileged disposition ends at the "state line of Alaska".?
And so it goes, PCSTEL |
