Not we as a country. Government. Our government is dysfunctional. And primarily because of idiocy like the New Deal, Great Society and now the big government nonsense of Obama and the Hard Left which is in control of the Senate. Our politicians are out of touch with what the people want, particularly the Senate -- which is why we need to repeal the 17th Amendment.

It is pretty apparent that the problem is that our government is too big to manage effectively. It is true that part of the problem is we put a totally inexperienced administrator in charge of it and pretty much everyone now agrees he is incompetent as a manager -- other than the Hard Left who are clueless. But even a first rate administrator, like Bush, had a difficult time with parts of it. It is hard to get anything done with so many layers of bureaucracy.

Add to that the political hostility of the Left that really got bad in 2000, and you have the recipe for a disaster and that's what we now have. Maybe some strong leader can turn it around, someone like Carson who just makes too much sense to ignore.
