>> He didn't just "save GM", he saved the entire American auto industry.
That is liberal propaganda which targets the lowest intellects in the nation.
Taxpayers lost 12 Billion or more on the GM bailout, NONE OF WHICH was necessary. Had the Romney plan been followed (which was identical to my suggestions at the time), taxpayers would not have lost ONE NICKEL. The job losses, about 25% of the total, would have been roughly the same. And GM would not be headed back to bankruptcy, which as it now stands, they are.
The further argument, that Obama saved the auto industry, is just stupid. GM is not equal to the American auto industry; Ford would have done just fine, and other American auto operators (Toyota, Nissan, and the others) would have also been fine. GM, at the end of the day, amounted to a fraction, although not insignificant, of the American auto industry.
It was GM that was sinking under the weight of union contracts, and is still doing so. GM could have been saved without one nickel of taxpayer loss.
There are plenty of idiots who buy the claim you've made. But it simply is not supported by the facts. |
