This is a very long term project, and the amounts of superconducting wire and related equipment shipped this year are not likely to be large. The possibility of upgrading the entire grid, especially in large metropolitan areas, is enticing, but again, it depends somewhat on availability of federal funds or tax subsidies to make these investments. Congress so far has been reluctant to appropriate funds for ANY infrastructure projects, including highways and bridges, limiting the latest plan to road repairs up to May 2015. That's surely not good enough for major improvements to the grid.

The big question remains: Can AMSC recover anything from Sinovel? If so, the stock will soar whether or not these new grid improvement projects materialize. If not, we're still stuck with a company barely making it in terms of its cash flow, and likely to need further dilution of its shares to make ends meet.
