This getting old business is no fun, especially when the capacity to do anything is lost. My Dad is almost 92 and while his mind is still in excellent functioning order, that's about the only thing that is. He lives alone but has very good help 7 days a week. My younger brother comes down from Canada every other month and stays 3 or 4 weeks and is responsible for all the affairs, health care, etc. My wife's mother is 92, and needs constant help but refuses to let anyone other than family into her house. Plus she's a mean ornery old cuss and believes that because she interfered constantly in her daughters lives that now she expects them to take care of her every need. My wife has two sisters, both younger, who live very close by, but one has washed her hands of most of it and goes north to MI(where her children are) for 6 months out of the year and is fairly incapacitated herself, the youngest is responsible for her mother and her affairs, but has so many ailments she's almost useless too, was a daddy's girl and hates her mother. So my wife and I reluctantly spend up to 6 weeks at a time here in FL doing what we can, but my wife has her own physical issues. She fell the other day (for the umpteenth time) and broke a rib and has scrapes and bruises. At 72, I'm the healthiest of the lot, and the only son-in-law in the family to boot so I'm right in the middle of all of it. I have decided I'm as old as I'm going to allow and will have no ailments ever.

I'm amazed at what Fran is trying to do by herself with so little help. God made a good woman there.

Stay well.
