All this talk from liberals about how Putin really messed up this time assumes the Obama administration or Europe or the world community will crack down on Putin in some meaningful way. Will that happen?

Is Obama's strategy enough......maybe not......but its having an impact:

For decades, the US President has been the de facto leader of the "free world." That isn't true today .... the US President has formally eschewed leadership calling his way "leading from behind." Most people know that means following, not leading.

Its leadership without having thousands of Americans maimed or killed. That's a huge plus even if you all are not smart enough to realize it.

The danger is Putin (and others) may learn the lesson from this that he can get away with anything when America has removed itself from the world stage. Maybe they already know that and that's why this has happened. Could Putin actually be testing the world's resolve?

Mr. Putin has boxed himself in a corner. The Russians are not terribly clever and tend to be self destructive. Mr. Putin's behavior in the Ukraine fits the patten perfectly.
