As one of the people I quoted pointed out, there isn't available water in many places. Where there is, it is and has been utilized. Like in this country. The government owns vast swaths of land in the West. That is because unsettled land is public property. The government had long running programs where they would give you parcels of land for free if you settled on it and made it productive. Most of Nevada remained unclaimed because without available water there was nothing that could have been done with it. The US even tried to give a large chunk to the state, but they declined.

Without laying pipes, that land was indeed uninhabitable. The Israelis engaged in ethnic cleansing during the 1948 Arab Israeli war, displacing hundreds of thousands of Palestinians. But only from the good parts. Places like Gaza, they didn't care about.

You have to remember that the Israelis were terrorists of the planting bombs in crowded markets, bus stops and tossing grenades into houses. Not that the Palestinians were angels, strafing buses and snipers. But the Israelis were pretty bad.

In Israel today, they are slowly coming to terms with the events of the founding of their country. The government managed to whitewash it from the beginning, but truth eventually leaks out.

We need to do the same.
