You need not trust me, and I would never ask that you do. Doug Elmendorf has said it. The trustees reports of Medicare and Social Security have said it. I'm an unbiased observer relaying the message you don't want to hear.

But Paul Krugman sure as hell doesn't have a track record of getting things right.
