When the law was passed Democrats in 2010 controlled the house. Now of course that is not the case and it would be politically impossible to rewrite the simple fix you propose--IMHO. There might be consumer back lash from all the people who will have to rework their insurance program and budgets if it comes to repealing subsidies. I can see the them blaming the government (and the President since its his program more or less) for not having it together the first time--keeping in mind we've already had the trying experience of the botched roll out and enrollment snafu's. Please don't get the impression that I am happy about all of this. I am not.
