Land a bed in jail via rape, murder or any other heinous criminal act, and you’re suddenly worth $113,974 a year to the federal government — nearly ten times as much. Free health care, recreation, dental, entertainment, education, libraries and so forth: the amenities for those who surrender their freedom is well documented and very expensive. calgarysun.com
>>>"Sounds like a good deal, would you switch with him???"

It is a dumb question. Of course I would not want to trade in my freedom for life in prison with all those benefits ... which, by the way, is what you are advocating by gradually trading freedoms for greater and greater government controls until we have a police state.

The point of the article however, was not whether incarceration is better than freedom, of course it is not. The article was comparing a person who retires at 65 after a long honest life of hard work and decent living who qualifies for a maximum of 11.8k per year, where as $113,974 a year is spent on the heinous criminals.

Your position is that this is just, fair and resolute, which you still have not explained.
