First off, IBM's 5X revenues are not in the PERSONAL SOFTWARE desktop where MICROSOFT BEAT them, Most of those revenues are still in the MAINFRAME market, in 95 IBM lost in the personal desktop market, they won in the laptop market, you DO NOT KNOW more than me on this, I ASSURE YOU! no RMIL will not TAKE OVER PEPSI, but they may BEAT them on the water side of the business, your analogy is in ERROR.
IBM WAS HUGE, and little microsoft with windows squashed them in the home operating system environment, so when I say THEY BEAT THEM, THEY DID!
MSFT has not even come close to beating them.
Are you using OS2 or WINDOWS friend, are those feet still in your throat?
What they did was to capitalize on IBM's lack of vision in the PC market. IBM has since rectified that problem, and they are a formidable MSFT competitor.
If Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer DIED tomorrow, it would take IBM YEARS to catch microsoft in the home software market, I know I worked there, DID YOU?
Check out the presence in the high performance internet server market. You will not find MSFT anywhere around. Check out the emerging NC market and Java desktop market (no MSFT).
