Strapping explosives and incendiary devices to animals has a very long history. We had a plan and worked out all of the details to use bats with incendiaries strapped on to burn Japanese structures. The Russians used dogs to attempt to damage tanks. Such things preceded WWII by centuries and likely millennia.
