I'm with you - not really sure what to make of banks, but in a market that has been really strong some of these regional banks are trading around book value or below with a flood of insider buying.

Here is a screen I ran on finviz with recent insider buying and book value <1.50

Even if i decide i want to own banks me creating my basket is whole other story.
