Hi Mattyice -

Re: Banks

I still do not trust the reported BV especially in the very large "Too-Big-to-Fail" banks. Your premise is correct if/when the stated BV numbers are accurate. I have been looking at the regional banks too, specifically New York Community Bancorp Inc. (NYCB). This was the only bank I kept but have not added to the position for years. NYCB never took any TARP money and has always paid their stated dividend.

Also take note that the Fed's are catching up with these larger banks w/ settlements (rather than long sustained litigation) for all those bad loans made. I am not sure if many of the regional banks will be hit with any law suits but that's a potential hit to future earnings.

At some point, this will be a sector you can invest in and I think you are safe looking at the smaller regional banks at this time. I bank w/ my local credit union and closed my account(s) w/ Citi Bank.

As you build your basket of banks, keep us posted on how that proceeds.

Best of luck and good investing.
