Israel continues crimes with impunity: Activist

Israel goes ahead with its ethnic cleansing scenario across the occupied Palestinian territories as the regime is confident that it will not be prosecuted by the international community over its atrocities, a political activist tells Press TV.

In a Sunday interview, Joe Catron from International Solidarity Movement, commented on Israel’s war crimes in Gaza saying, “Israel has faced complete impunity for very similar crimes in the past.”

“What we’re seeing its military forces do now in areas like…Shujaiya is very reminiscent of previous ethnic cleansing campaigns like the Naqba in 1948 and the Naqba of 1967,” he added.

The activist argued that Israel has deliberately reduced some areas in Gaza such as Shujaiya to rubble, so it could make them uninhabitable for a long time and gradually occupy those areas.

Catron pointed to the Israeli lobby’s sway over the Western world, particularly the United States, and said, “America’s support for Israel is not primarily… a matter of its foreign policy interests, but of domestic political pressures.”

Death toll from Israeli attacks on Gaza has reached 1,050 since Tel Aviv began its onslaught on July 8. Thousands of Palestinians have been also injured in the attacks.

On July 17, thousands of Israeli soldiers also launched a ground incursion into the densely-populated Palestinian territory.

The Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas, has been launching retaliatory attacks into Israel.

While Israel confirms 40 Israelis have been killed in the war, Hamas sources put the number at about 90.
