The Western politicians and media act as a criminal enterprise of lies and war-making, whose propaganda machine has recently been stampeded into making baseless allegations against Russia, a political analyst writes for the Press TV website.
In a column for Press TV, published on Sunday, Finian Cunningham criticized American and European corporate news outlets for spewing out “a veritable media-orgy of lies, propaganda and vilification” against Moscow after a Malaysia Airlines jetliner with 298 people on board crashed over Ukraine’s east last week.
“Of course, informed people around the world know that the Western mainstream media operate as a propaganda machine for powerful elite interests. But what is astounding is just how brazen the brainwashing purpose has become,” Cunningham pointed out. The political commentator further noted that Washington and US intelligence officials form the agenda of the whole western media.
The "get Russia" campaign gained momentum following remarks by Samantha Power, the US ambassador to the United Nations, who pointed the blame finger for the plane crash at Moscow, he added.
“This is the same tired old routine of American fabrication, of fixing facts to fit policy … from weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, to al-Qaeda terrorists in Afghanistan, from 'humanitarian intervention' in Libya, to chemical weapons in Syria,” he wrote, adding that in all the cases Washington resorted to “lying, contriving, manipulating and fabricating in order to carry out its own criminal agenda of war or regime change.” The Malaysian Boeing 777-200 was reportedly shot down over Ukraine's volatile Donetsk region on July 17 while en route from the Dutch city of Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, killing 298 passengers and crew on board.
