Have always believed this:

BUT if you're going to get married and have a family, you're going to buy a house. Women want a nest and kids need a home to grow up in. So go ahead, just don't think of it as an investment .. it's a lifestyle expenditure. One you have to keep putting money into just to maintain what you have.
