Energy Weekly: Russia Sanctions and Libyan Strife Keep Oil Price
Supported — But The Glutted US is The Only Crude Market Trading Strong
29 July 2014 ¦ 13 pages ir.citi.com

Geopolitics remain hot for energy markets, as the EU and US ready new
sanctions on Russia and violent clashes continue in Libya, Syria, Iraq, Gaza and
Ukraine. Iraq is also facing difficulties outside its borders, as the KRG tries to
offload a cargo of crude in the Gulf of Mexico to a British Virgin Islands based
trading company. Yet a Texas judge has ordered it’s seizure by US Marshals as
permission has not been granted by Baghdad for its sale. Iraq’s Kurds have
struggled to sell crude that has flown through a newly built Kurdish pipeline, as it
violates the Iraqi constitution according to Federal Iraq, with Israel the only
reported recipients to date.
