Reading thru WB's wife's FB page, it looks like our friend could sure use some prayers right now. Mass in his lungs...been on respirator...drains..ugly stuff. Lots of pain and he has to be tied down to keep him from pulling the ventilator out. Mrs. WB just had surgical procedure for breast cancer but says prognosis is good. B family could use some prayer covering. Prayers for sweet Bill. From FB July 12: Family and friends Bill is in ICU here with a collapsed lung due to a massive infection in that right lung. He is on a ventilator and heavily sedated. So far hanging in there. — at George E. Wahlen VA Medical Center (VHA). Today. 7/31: The tracheotomy went well but Bill is in surgery again. They are putting in another chest tube. The tubes already in his chest won't drain this pocket of fluid. The human body is a wonderful machine. Because of the fluid around his lung, the body's defenses rush in and wall it off to protect his lung. But in this case, it is endangering his ability to use his lung and get better. I just ache to see what they have had to do to this poor guy. The alternative is, of course, worse but still.
