Yes, we only have the survivor's version, but the survivor's version seems to fit the facts.

I never heard about any abrasions on Martin's head.

There are MANY bad shootings and some of them are definitely racially motivated but I don't think this was one of them.

There's another shooting being talked about lately. The guy in Detroit I believe that shot the unarmed black woman through his front door. I don't know if race was a part of that one either, but in that case I think the guy should definitely be convicted of manslaughter at least. It's one thing to be in fear, but before you take or attempt to take a life because of it you should be required to use reasonable judgement and in that guy's case I don't think it was reasonable.
