Having been a New York area resident throughout the 1980's-2004, I go back to when Bob's program first came on the air at local station WMCA in October 1981 (6am-10am on Sunday mornings as I remember) and have memories going all the way back

That's fascinating PETE.

What was Bob Brinker saying about market timing back then, say 1981-1985 or so, in the 'early years' of his radio programs?

How much did the importance of market timing enter into his investing philosophy back then?

From my viewpoint, Bob has always appeared to me to have a sincere interest in educating his listeners
Because educating listeners about investing in the stock market is one thing...........and educating them that they should follow market timing is very different.

And of course educating listeners that they should follow HIS market timing changes everything.

It changes the whole thrust from "let me educate you to become a better stock market investor" to
"you better follow MY advice of when to invest and when to get out of the market".

Educating people on stock market investing makes them independent and self reliant.
Educating them to only invest when YOU say it is safe makes them totally dependent on you.
