Jobless claims decreased by 14,000 to 289,000 in the week ended Aug. 2 from 303,000 in the prior period, a Labor Department report showed Thursday in Washington. The median forecast of 47 economists surveyed by Bloomberg called for an increase to 304,000.

There is a question to me in this figure perhaps more so because where I live the economy does not appear to be booming. You cannot apply for unemployment if you have not been working. Could be there have been so many people that could not return to the full time job market that they are not eligible for unemployment. My results

July 2014
Total number of Americans on welfare
12,800,000
Number of Americans who are unemployed
9,100,000
Number of Americans collecting unemployment benefits
4,600,000

I have so very much respect for many USA people who are innovative and in my opinion work very hard trying to create incomes.
